A Sweet Welcome on Barrington Street
We meet at Grand Parade, the civic square in the heart of downtown, and start the way a good afternoon should, with something in your hand. Your guide hands out saltwater taffy from a much-loved Barrington Street candy shop while we get our bearings and set out.A Privateers' Warehouse on the Harbour
Our first sit-down is inside a stone warehouse built for privateers, home since 1974 to a pub where local musicians have played nightly for fifty years. You start with a cup of seafood chowder made from fish landed a short walk away. Then comes deep-fried pepperoni with honey mustard, a Halifax bar order with Polish roots, supplied by a North End butcher running since the 1960s.The City's Official Food, Reworked
Halifax invented the donair and locals still argue over who does it best. Here you taste it as a donair poutine, spiced beef and the famous sweet sauce piled over fries, at a downtown institution as well known for its warren of rooms as for its food. Our Secret Stop
We keep one location off the map. You will not find it in the itinerary and we will not tell you where we are going, only that it is a favourite of ours and it surprises guests every time. Trust your guide and stay hungry.Chocolate With a Story
We finish on the water with a tasting from a chocolate maker whose story began in Damascus and continued in small-town Nova Scotia after the family arrived as refugees. In warmer months you taste their chocolate. When it turns cold, a cup of their hot chocolate instead.*Please note: the itinerary and menu is subject to change, based on the locations' availability, weather, and other circumstances.
