What you'll do

SEE ITINERARY

On the Causeway, Below the Boardwalk

Down the steps from Wharf Street, a takeaway window serves Pacific fish to people eating on the concrete. You stand up to eat this one, looking across the Inner Harbour at the Legislature and the float planes coming in. It is the least formal food of the day and the best view of it.

A Tasting Bar of Oils and Vinegars

Dozens of olive oils and balsamics, all on tap and all open for tasting. Your guide walks you through what separates a good oil from a supermarket one, and you taste them side by side to find out. It resets your palate before the sweet stops.

A Chocolatier Trading Since the 1880s

Victoria has been making this chocolate since the 1880s, and the heritage shop it comes from still looks the part. A dark chocolate shell with a soft cream centre, about two bites. Locals buy these for themselves as often as for visitors.

A Fort Street Bakery

Fort Street has been Victoria's bakery row for decades, and we stop at one of them. What you get depends on the day of the week: sometimes a Vancouver Island classic of crumb, custard icing and chocolate, sometimes something savoury out of the British baking tradition Victoria held onto.

A Beer Hall in a Heritage Market Square

The brick buildings around this courtyard went up in the 1800s, and one of them now runs a long counter of taps. This is the savoury stop nobody expects on a Victoria food tour. Pacific fish again, handled nothing like the way you had it down at the harbour.

Under the Chinatown Gate

Two stone lions carved in Suzhou mark the entrance, and the barbecue counters start behind them. Chinese miners built these blocks after 1858, and by 1911 this was the largest Chinese community in Canada. The pork still hangs glazed in the window, the way it has here for generations.

One Last Stop, in Fan Tan Alley Territory

To make your experience extra special, we've included a surprise Secret Dish that perfectly captures the heart of the city's cuisine.

Foreign Transaction Fees

+

A few banks have charged their customer an extra fee while booking with us (this isn't the booking fee but another fee added by the bank). We think this is unfair, if this happens let us know by showing us in your bank statement and we will refund this fee as a gesture of good will.

+

Many of our tours are not wheelchair or stroller accessible. We recommend contacting us before booking to discuss this specific tour and accessibility options.
