What you'll do

On our Secret Food Tour: Krakow, you'll explore our rich history of royal feasts and simple fare, with family stories told around the table. Each of the traditional, delicious dishes are prepared with high-quality ingredients and served by welcoming, hospitable locals.

Enjoy traditional Polish dishes, starting from the Jewish quarter with its incredible squares, cafes and food. You won't miss the authentic Pierogi, local sausage and soup, smoked sheep cheese and a shot of a famous local flavoured vodka in a super cool bar; our secret dish will guarantee you will fall in love with the city of Krakow.

Quality drinks will be served at some stops, however if you would like more, a thoughtfully curated Upgraded Drinks Package is available.

  • We start the tour in the Jewish Quarter at the Plac Novy, where you'll try a typical Zapiekanka, a Cracovian style pizza.
  • From Plac Novy, we go to one of the oldest and coolest bars in the whole Krakow, to get a classic Honey flavoured vodka shot.
  • We see some settings of the "Schindler's List", while discovering the Jewish square and synagogues and some old school venues which, even after 70 years, kept their Jewish soul.
  • We stop at a 100 year-old Polish restaurant and notice how good a Soup can be, when made with heart and accompanied by a sausage.
  • We walk by one of the most picturesque places in the city, Wawel Hill. Ever heard the legend of Krakow's dragon?
  • Discovering a bit about this city's communist past, it's a must: we'll do that by visiting a famous Milkbar(cafeteria which during the Communist era provided government-subsidized meals) and trying the most Traditional Polish Pierogi.
  • We head towards the biggest medieval main square in Europe and to our next stop, a famous local pub, where we'll taste beer and Bigos(depending on availability).
  • We try a regional Highlanders' smoked sheep cheese from the Podhale region, famous oscypek with cranberry jelly and get ready for a sweet treat at the end of the tour.
  • And yes! Our delicious Secret Dish will be waiting for you in a secret place!

WHY THE JEWISH QUARTER AND THE OLD TOWN?

We start in Kazimierz, once an independent Polish town, which became known as the Jewish Quarter of Krakow. Here you'll see plenty of cool bars, vintage stalls and bohemian cafe culture – in addition to its somber reflections on World War II. From there we take a walk to reach the The Old Town, a very magical place. For many centuries, kings, queens, and their guests came to Kraków through St. Florian's Gate, past the main market square, and continued along Grodzka Street to the Wawel Castle. Today the Royal Route is still as vibrant and lively as ever, retaining its royal splendor. Here you'll find perfectly preserved medieval architectural structures, some of the most magnificent in Europe, including beautiful residences, centuries-old churches, majestic university buildings, and a renaissance castle and gardens at Wawel Hill.

The main market square is the heart of the city, designed eight centuries ago to meet the needs of merchants. Today the taverns and inns surrounding the center have been replaced by restaurants, clubs, and coffee shops. The Cloth Hall dominates the middle of the square, and features stalls with local souvenirs, works of art, and jewellery.
