What you'll do

On our Secret Food Tour: Krakow, you'll explore our rich history of royal feasts and simple fare, with family stories told around the table. Each of the traditional, delicious dishes are prepared with high-quality ingredients and served by welcoming, hospitable locals.

Enjoy traditional Polish dishes, including the authentic regional potato pancakes with smoked sheep cheese and a glass of a famous local wheat beer; a popular communist-era appetizer of herrings in oil served with a shot of Bison Grass vodka, and a secret traditional meal that guarantees you will fall in love with Polish cuisine.

Quality drinks will be served at some stops, however if you would like more, a thoughtfully curated Upgraded Drinks Package is available.

  • We start the tour at the beginning of the medieval Royal Route by the Barbican and St. Florian's Gate, where you'll try a typical Cracovian snack: a salted bagel.
  • From the Barbican, we head towards the Szczepanski Square and one of the best examples of Art Nouveau architecture in the Old Town - the Palace of Fine Arts. We'll visit a local tavern for a unique opportunity to try a regional Highlanders' smoked sheep cheese from the Podhale region, famous oscypek with cranberry jelly, and a baked potato pancake moskole with garlic butter — with a glass of regional Okocim wheat beer.
  • We head towards the biggest medieval main square in Europe and to our next stop, famous local pub, where we'll taste a favorite Polish appetizer of herrings in oil with onion or herring tartare (depending on availability) served with a shot of Bison Grass Vodka.
  • We'll conclude our tour in one of the most picturesque places in the city, Wawel Hill. Here we'll try the famous Polish Pope's cream cake or traditional Polish apple pie with a glass of famous Polish lager beer.
  • And yes! Our delicious Secret Dish will be waiting for you in a secret place.

WHY THE ROYAL ROUTE AND THE OLD TOWN?

The Old Town is a magical place. For many centuries, kings, queens, and their guests came to Kraków through St. Florian's Gate, past the main market square, and continued along Grodzka Street to the Wawel Castle. Today the Royal Route is still as vibrant and lively as ever, retaining its royal splendor. Here you'll find perfectly preserved medieval architectural structures, some of the most magnificent in Europe, including beautiful residences, centuries-old churches, majestic university buildings, and a renaissance castle and gardens at Wawel Hill.

The main market square is the heart of the city, designed eight centuries ago to meet the needs of merchants. Today the taverns and inns surrounding the center have been replaced by restaurants, clubs, and coffee shops. The Cloth Hall dominates the middle of the square, and features stalls with local souvenirs, works of art, and jewellery.
