Why a Hen Party in Cape Town Beats Waiting Around to Get Ready

A private food tour in Cape Town gives the hen weekend a real afternoon plan before the night out, in groups of 10 to 15 moving between food stops together instead of waiting around to get ready.

The night out usually gets planned first, and the afternoon before it gets left empty. The bride's crew ends up sitting around wherever they're staying, half of them on their phones, waiting around for the evening.

A food tour fills the gap: the group reacts to the same dish at the same time, which does more for the bride's mix of college friends, work friends, and family than a shared table where the same three people talk.

What Secret Food Tours Offers for a Hen Party or Bachelorette Party in Cape Town

A private, guided walking food tour through Cape Town, built around the hen party alone. A local guide leads the way between several food stops, with a drink upgrade available for guests of legal drinking age, with valid ID.

It ends with a secret dish we don't name in advance, so the bride has one more surprise before the night starts.

Frequently asked questions

Is this also for a Bachelorette Party?

+
Yes. Whether you call it a Hen Party or a Bachelorette Party, it's the same private food tour for the bride and her friends in Cape Town.

When during the weekend should we book this?

+
Most groups book it for the afternoon, ahead of dinner and the night out. It works as a standalone celebration too, if the weekend doesn't include a big night out.

What's the ideal group size?

+
10 to 15 people is the sweet spot, though we regularly host smaller and larger groups too.

Is a drink upgrade available?

+
Yes. Guests choosing the drink upgrade must be of legal drinking age, with valid ID.

How do we book and pay?

+
A 20% deposit holds your date for groups of 10 or more, and is non-refundable from the moment it's paid. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the event. Paying the full amount upfront instead earns a 5% discount. Smaller groups pay in full to confirm. We accept bank transfer, at no added fee, or PayPal, which may carry a fee.

What's your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

+
For groups under 10: your payment isn't refundable, but rescheduling to a new date or applying it as credit toward a future tour is an option. For groups of 10 or more: the 20% deposit is non-refundable as soon as it's paid, and the balance becomes non-refundable too once it's due, 2 weeks before the event. Either way, rescheduling or credit toward a new date stays available. There's no cash refund, but nothing goes to waste.

How far ahead do we need to book?

+
Request a date and we confirm availability, usually within 24 hours.

How much walking is involved?

+
Typically 1 to 1.5 miles. We adjust the distance for the group's needs, including a bride who'd rather not be in heels the whole time.

Do you handle dietary restrictions?

+
Yes, tell us in advance and we work around them. Because we partner with independent restaurants rather than one kitchen, we don't guarantee zero cross-contamination risk for severe allergies.

Is this wheelchair accessible?

+
It depends on the city and route. Tell us in advance if anyone in your group has mobility needs, and we advise on what's possible.
