Tableau Bar Bistro offers a mix of French cuisine with fresh west coast ingredients. And it won’t break the bank. Especially, as I recommend, going to the happy hour!
Located in the lobby of Loden hotel in Beautiful Coal Harbour, Tableau is somewhat of a hidden gem. And I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes – even at peak times.
Tableau has a small but very well put together happy hour menu consisting of classic Items like mushrooms on toast, pommes frites, and west coast oysters. It runs from 2:30 to 5:30 and 9:30 to close after that.
If you would like to go for dinner a little bit earlier, then you can’t go wrong with the rest of the menu just be prepared to spend a little more.
What we ordered?
Crispy Chicken Wings: ($13)
Black olive caramel sauce on top. house pickles on the side with some spinach on top for garish.
These are whole chicken wings that are flash fried in oil then baked at a very hot temperature to insure maximum crispness. The black olive caramel sauce is very thick and sticky but most importantly full of flavour.
Tableau burger et frites: ($14)
Gruyère cheese, bacon, Tableau signature house made ketchup.
Definitely the best bang for your buck. At just 14 dollars you get a very classic well assembled burger. The Gruyère adds a great bit of sweet and salty flavour along with the house made ketchup is what elevates this dish far above a classic bar burger. Served with very Crispy French style parmesan fries.
Le petit tartare: (10)
Dijon mustard, quail egg, pommes gaufrettes (waffle fried potato chips)
Very tender and flavorful beef tartare served with a quail egg on top, with house potato chips to scoop up everything on the plate.
The menu can be a bit intimidating as most of it is in French but if you have any questions just ask your server they would be more than welcome to give you recommendations and explanations. This place really has everything you look for in a restaurant, good quick service, nice decor and most importantly great food!
Be sure to tip at least 15% on top of the bill as it is customary here.
