We've done a number of food tours around the world and this was one of our favorites! The portion sizes were very generous and, since we had a private tour, they even customized it for us. We loved learning more about Lima's history and eating some of the most popular Peruvian foods that we had been wanting to try. I don't think we'll ever have a better lomo saltado than the one on this tour! It was a really fun day.

We had a fine few hours eating delicious food and having most excellent conversations with a Gonzalo Ranillo. It was an excellent way to begin our time in Peru, and I would highly recommend it.

My sister and I did the food tour with Gonzalo and had a great time. We were introduced to many local foods, all of which were excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided a lot on insight on Peruvian cuisine. The only downside was that we chose to do this tour on our last day in Peru and couldn’t fit in a visit to any recommended restaurants after the tour. I would highly recommend this as a great introduction to Lima and Peru, preferably at the start of a trip!

We had a great day with Gonzao in Lima, he took us around the Barranco area, we started with a very tasty coffee at a cafe who roast their own beans, as we walked through Barranco he gave us a potted history and showed us some brilliant graffiti art. The first lunch was a tasty Lomo Saltado and Arroz Chaufa, both freshly made taking into account our vegetarian daughter. Great restaurant and very tasty. Next was Ceviche in a local market - delicious. Then a wonderful ice cream - again lacto-free was available, brilliant. Finishing off with a taster set in a local craft brewery. If you want to understand the foodie culture in Lima this tour is well worth trying.

What you'll taste

<p style="text-align:justify;">Barranco, originally founded by Spanish settlers, earned the nickname "City of Windmills" due to their use of windmills to draw water from wells. Over time, the district flourished, with affluent residents constructing elegant colonial summer residences where they enjoyed the waterfront and scenic views. Beautiful parks and open spaces were developed, adding to the charm of one of Lima's most romantic and historic areas.<br><br>In the early 20th century, Barranco evolved into a bohemian enclave with an influx of artists, poets, and musicians, a vibrant spirit that endures to this day.<br><br>Today, this unique neighborhood is adorned with historic homes, bohemian bars, art galleries, and local restaurants, offering visitors a vibrant connection to our living culture and tradition.</p>
