Meet your guide by Onofrio's Great Fountain and set off along the Stradun, the Old Town's main street, its limestone worn glassy by centuries of footsteps. Your guide unpacks the stories behind Dubrovnik's walls and squares, and its long life as a trading republic on the Adriatic.&nbsp;Wind through the side streets past churches, cloisters and palaces, from the Franciscan Monastery to the Rector's Palace, the Cathedral and the baroque Jesuit Staircase. When the wind picks up, we step inside some of the Old Town's churches along the way.&nbsp;Pause to warm up at a local tavern over a platter of cheese and prosciutto, followed by Croatia's black ink risotto and a glass of local wine.&nbsp;Continue the walk down to the Old Port, where Dubrovnik's merchant ships once set sail, and finish on something sweet: a slice of carob cake. Carob trees grow all along the Dalmatian coast, and for generations their dark, caramel-sweet pods were what local kitchens baked with when sugar was a luxury.&nbsp;Fewer food stops than our classic Dubrovnik Food Tour, more time for the stories.
