What you'll do

Strap on your walking shoes for a deep dive into the flavors of Kensington Market, Toronto’s ultimate destination for global street food. Over the course of two hours, we’ll eat our way through the neighborhood's storied history, using our taste buds to map out its evolution. Kensington is a living, breathing tapestry of immigrant culture, and there’s no better way to understand its bohemian soul than through the kitchens that define these streets. Between bites, we’ll explore the vibrant alleys and hand-painted storefronts of this National Historic Site, uncovering the rebellious spirit that keeps this market independent and authentic.

Our journey centers on four distinct culinary stops, each offering a different window into the world. You’ll kick things off with the bold, warming spices of East Asian comfort food before moving on to a crunchy, sustainably-sourced classic that proves "guilt-free" can be delicious. We’ll then tuck into a "secret" destination for a refreshing, fruit-filled handmade treat that’s as much an art form as it is a dessert. Finally, we’ll wrap up our trek by warming up with the soul-soothing, traditional staples of the Himalayas. By the time we’re through, you’ll have experienced the very best of the market’s multicultural menu and the stories behind the people who cook it.

SEE ITINERARY

We begin our journey in the heart of Kensington Market at Original Ka Chi. Here, you’ll dive into a quintessential East Asian comfort dish with a classic Bibimbap. These vibrant "Korean rice bowls" feature your choice of beef, pork, chicken, or tofu, topped with a signature sunny-side-up egg and a colorful array of seasoned vegetables, showcasing the warming spices and rich, satisfying flavors that define the neighborhood.
Next, we continue through the lively market streets to Fresco’s Fish and Chips. At this stop, you’ll enjoy sustainably sourced cod paired with a fresh kale salad, a crunchy and flavorful bite that proves comfort food can also be light and guilt-free.
We then slip into a true hidden gem for our “secret stop” at Nomnom Fruit. Here, you’ll cool down with a refreshing, handmade mango mochi (one per two guests), a fruit-filled treat that’s as playful and artistic as Kensington itself.
Our journey continues to Golden Patty, a neighborhood staple known for its authentic Caribbean flavors. Here, you’ll experience a classic Toronto pairing: a flaky Jamaican patty served inside soft, slightly sweet coco bread (one per two guests).
After that, we’ll walk over for a taste of the rich Italian roots that exist not only in Toronto but all of Canada, where you'll enjoy a comforting trio of Alfredo, Pesto & Tomato Sauce Tortellini - a local favorite loaded with rich flavor.
Then we’ll head into the historic Distillery District to visit a local craft brewery, where you’ll devour a delicious serving of classic poutine - crispy fries topped with squeaky cheese curds and savory gravy, the ultimate Canadian comfort food.
And for a great end, you'll devour the mouth-watering goodness of a classic Canadian pastry, the famous Butter Tart.
