<p style="text-align:justify;">Old San Juan is one of the oldest cities in the new world and is one place where Christopher Columbus landed on his 1493 voyage. It wasn't until 1521 when it became a regularly inhabited city, but quickly became a bustly trade post as a safe harbor before entering the Caribbean.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify;">As it grew, the walled city became a hub of cultural exchange and the food reflected that. The culinary scene in Old San Juan borrows from the indigenous Taino people, the Spanish Empire of centuries past, African traditions from slaves brought to Puerto Rico, and even pirates who roamed the waters off its coast.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Through it's cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and incredible cuisine, Old San Juan is a perfect setting to get a taste of Puerto Rico in just a few hours.
