We'll stop by one of the most beautiful cafès in the city to learn how local Florentines do breakfast.

Visit the off the beaten track Sant'Ambrogio where everyday Florentines go for local produce

Sample a variety of Tuscan cheeses, meats and hams that make the region so famous

You'll then try lampredotto, the legendary street food of Florence.

Visit a local trattoria and dine on regional tuscan pastas and soups.

We'll cool off with a fresh gelato in an artisanal shop.

As with all our tours, there's our delicious Secret Dish.

Away from the museums and crowds, you'll find a moment to relax, experience a still thriving atmosphere, and meet local people in their shops.&nbsp;Santa Croce Basilica is one of the most important monuments for the history of both Florence and Italy. Also known as "the Temple of the Italian Glories", it's a must-see, and the perfect meeting point from where we start our great food tour. Walking through the streets, you'll understand how important this district has always been, from its time as the leather district, which has made a fortune for many Florentine families since 12th century, to becoming the symbol of Italy as a unified country.&nbsp;After this, we continue into Sant'Ambrogio Market, which is the city's food market, full of locals buying and talking in their own colourful way. You'll try some of the freshest foods Florence has to offer, and meet the proud locals who love their city and their culture. Eat and drink as the Florentines do. &nbsp;

Nothing is better than a glass of Chianti, crisp and fresh, perfect for pairing with the savory Florentine food. Among all the Tuscan red wines, it's the one that is meant to be drunk younger and not aged for long. In general, Chianti Classicos are described as medium-bodied wines with firm, dry tannins. The characteristic aroma is cherry but it can also carry nutty and floral notes as well.

Chianti

The wines are dry reds from the Sangiovese grape variety, known here as Morellino. They're produced in the rolling coastal hills around the medieval village of Scansano. Scansano's viticultural origins date back to Etruscan times, and the quality of the local wines has been documented for centuries. This style of Sangiovese differs from its northern brethren due to the ripeness levels it can achieve in southern Tuscany. The result is a rounder and more savory style of wine.
