The East Boston Secret the North End Doesn’t Want You To Know

Everyone loves the North End, Boston’s oldest neighbourhood which has been predominately

Italian for a century.

What everyone doesn’t know about, is a small Italian restaurant in East Boston called Rino’s Place. It’s profile was boosted by once being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri, but to many visitors to the area, even that exposure hasn’t given Rino’s the full fame it deserves.

Rino’s has that small restaurant charm you’ll find in many North End restaurants but the portions you receive are unmatched by many if not all of the North End businesses.

They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, so bring your family and friends when you come! If you have fewer people, put in your name and wait the 30-45 minutes (it’s worth it!) at Kelley Square Pub two blocks away to grab a quick drink.

For a starter we ordered the calamari ($12) which easily could’ve been a big enough appetizer for four people. While the chicken dishes looked outstanding, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to order one of their homemade pasta dishes. Finally, I decided to go with the gnocchi topped with fresh mozzarella ($15) which is always a favourite of mine.

Not to mention that while the menu says it comes with tomato sauce, they were happy to adjust to a pesto sauce upon my request. The pasta courses come with a side salad and for a small $3 upcharge I opted for the Caesar salad.

You can get several of their pasta, chicken or veal dishes for under $20, the selection is incredible.

I’m not sure how anyone can finish a meal here which is an added bonus when you get to have the main course again the next day!

This hidden gem may not stay hidden too much longer so get there while you can!

When calculating your final bill be sure to add the standard 6.25% meal tax and 18-20% gratuities.

Rino’s Place is located at 258 Saratoga St. in Boston, MA.

Public Transportation Suggestion: Take the Blue Line to Airport Station, from there it is a short ten minute walk.
